Sedation Dentistry in Pleasanton & Sunnyvale, CA

Feel Calm and Comfortable in the Dental Chair

If anxiety keeps you from seeing the dentist, you’re not alone. Our safe, personalized sedation options make it easy to get the care you need—without fear or stress.

What Is Sedation Dentistry?

Sedation dentistry is designed to help patients feel relaxed and at ease during dental procedures. Whether you’re anxious about discomfort, sensitive to sounds and smells, or have had negative dental experiences in the past, sedation can make your visit smooth, calm, and entirely manageable.

You’ll remain conscious, but deeply relaxed—and in many cases, you may not even remember the procedure afterward.

Who Is Sedation Dentistry For?

  • Sedation dentistry is ideal for patients who:
  • Experience dental anxiety or fear
  • Have a sensitive gag reflex
  • Need multiple procedures in one visit
  • Struggle with local anesthetic alone
  • Have special healthcare needs or sensory sensitivities
  • Avoided dental care for years due to fear

We take time to understand your child’s habits and risks, then tailor our approach to support long-term oral health.

Benefits of Sedation Dentistry

  • Alleviates anxiety and fear
  • Makes longer or complex procedures easier
  • Reduces pain and discomfort
  • Little to no memory of treatment
  • No needles required for some methods
  • Safe and monitored throughout your visit
  • Helps build trust and reduce future fear

Sedation Options We Offer

Nitrous Oxide ("Laughing Gas")

A mild sedative delivered through a small nose mask during treatment. It produces a sense of calm and mild euphoria, helping you stay relaxed while fully awake.

Fast-acting, wears off quickly—you can even drive yourself home.

Oral Conscious Sedation

Taken as a pill before your appointment, this moderate form of sedation dulls your senses and significantly reduces anxiety. You’ll remain awake but may not remember much of the visit.

Ideal for patients who fear needles or want a deeper level of relaxation.

Common oral sedatives include:

  • Valium® – For long procedures; offers a calming and amnesic effect
  • Halcion® – Fast-acting, great for shorter appointments
  • Ativan® – Excellent for reducing anxiety in mid-length treatments
  • Versed® – Used for quick visits; offers calming, short-term effects
IV Sedation

Delivered through a vein, IV sedation works immediately and offers a deeper level of calm. Though you’ll remain conscious, many patients feel like they slept through the entire appointment.

Best for complex treatments or higher levels of dental fear.

Your Safety Comes First

Before recommending any sedation method, Dr. Yadav and our team will review your medical history, current medications, and individual needs. All sedation procedures are monitored closely, and a trusted adult must accompany you to and from your appointment if oral or IV sedation is used.
